Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Klein Funeral Home in Tomball. Burial will follow at the Klein Memorial Park in Pinehurst. Pastor Marshall Moore will officiate. A long time resident of the Tomball community, Jerry was known for his kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and faithfulness to the Lord. Jerry was born January 4, 1941 in Conroe. While his family moved frequently during his early childhood, by his teen years Jerry had developed the loves that would stay with him for a lifetime: his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his family, including his baby sister Mary Ruth and sweetheart Suzanne, his community of Tomball, amateur radio, all animals, and his country. Jerry and Suzanne began their family in 1961 with the birth of their son David Edward, who passed away at 17 days young. This early loss was followed by the birth of two more children, Jerry David and Jennifer. Tragedy struck again when Jerry David succumbed to leukemia at the age of seven. Jerry and Suzanne expanded their family with the births of two more daughters, Julie and Jerianne . Their descendants now include four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. After Suzanne's death, Jerry met and married Nancy Kuplent, his surviving widow. Jerry graduated from Tomball high school in 1959 and the University of Houston, where he earned a degree in electronics. He served as a Houston Police Officer for 23 years, and his entrepreneurial spirit lead him to establish many businesses, from Green's Television & Radio Repair to his most lasting legacies, the Christian schools he established with his late wife Suzanne and sister-in-law Nancy Carol Norred Davis. Children's Learning Center of Waller and Step By Step Christian School of Tomball continue to touch the lives of today's children with the love and faithfulness he exemplified. Jerry became an avid Ham radio operator in his early teens and made life-long friends all over the country who will mourn his loss. His call sign, K5IHK, was active for over 60 years and was well known for the wit and humor he shared with his fellow Hams. From his nightly visits with the 'Possum Trappers to the irregularly held "Annual Christmas Parties" (which usually happened in February or May), Jerry lived to laugh with the special men and women who make up the Ham community. His key may now be silent, but it is also deafening. His loss is felt perhaps most keenly by those whose lives he touched with his love and kindness. Jerry was a hero to many, who lived a life of selfless service to others. From the family he spoiled to the people, young, old, and in between, he met in daily life, Jerry was always eager to help. He had a special gift for seeing and meeting the needs of others with a quiet humility and loving warmth. He shone with a Christ-like love both publicly and privately. He was called Daddy by some and Papaw by many. His unconditional love, ability to see the best in everyone, and unfailing support helped so many young people realize their potential and grow in wisdom, maturity, and love of the Lord. Weather you were blessed enough to be born into his family or one of the fortunate many whom he adopted as his own, Papaw's love made a lasting mark on all! He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Ola Green, his wife Suzanne Norred Green, his sons, David Edward Green and Jerry David Green. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Dr. Mary Ruth (Green) and Pastor Marshall Moore, wife Nancy Kuplent Green; his daughters Jennifer Danell (Green) Little and son-in-law Walton S. Little, Jr., Julie Danell (Green) Little, and Jerianne Danell Green; his grandchildren Stephanie Marie (Hays) and Jack Sanchez, Sarah Jolene (Hitchcock) and Russell Ford, David Nelson and Kristen (Shook) Hitchcock, and Jade Danell Green-Little; great-grandchildren Wesley Allen Ford, Layne Allen Ford, Cody Allen Ford, Olivia Grace Suzanne Hitchcock, and Corbin Brady Hitchcock; his beloved dog Polly, and numerous life-long friends and loved ones.
