George R. Hoover, 88, of Yankeetown, Florida, passed away quietly June 18, 2015, under the loving care of HPH Hospice and his loving family. George was born in Washington, DC, June 22, 1926, to George R. Hoover Sr. and Laura (Barham) Hoover. George was a U.S. Navy veteran. He previously served as a Presidential motorcycle officer escort in the Washington DC area. George was a ham radio operator and a member of the AmVet's post #0447. George was a life long 32 Degree Mason, Valley of Tampa, Orient of Florida. George was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church. Mr. Hoover was very personable and liked by all who met him. George was preceded in death by both parents and daughter, Kathleen L. Hoover Williams. George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathleen; sister, Shirley Federline of Massachusetts; sons, Richard of Palm Harbor, Greg (Donna) of Franklin, North Carolina, Curt (Marie) Long of Baker, Stephen (Maria) Long of Alpine, California, John (Maria) Long of Crestview; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in George's honor may be made to St. Anne's Episcopal Church. |
