1927-2014
Robert William McDow passed away on November 24th. Born on September 6, 1927. First born of the late Leota and T.L McDow, in Shawnee Oklahoma. Loving husband of the late Bonnie Jeanne Marie (Mulcahy). Proud and loving father of six sons, William, Michael (Pia), James, Terrence, Timothy (Pam), and Patrick (Debbie). Proud grandfather of Cheryl (Laura) Glaser, Jimmy, Melaina, Megan, Robert, Miles, Sean, Dustin, Kimberly, Kelly and Stephen. Caring great-grandfather of four, Dylan, Haley, Ellie and Evan. Loving brother of the late James (Patricia), and Mary Pat (Michael) Szluka. Fond brother-in-law and good friend of Frank (Becky) Mulcahy, and the late Dorothy (Tom) Reilly. Caring uncle and great-uncle to many. Bob was a proud World War II Veteran having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps 1945-1947 and in the U. S. Air Force as a Senior Airman during the Korean Conflict [Korean Service Medal] 1950-1951. He graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology, in Chicago, with a degree in Civil Engineering. During his career as a Senior Engineer for Pratt Whitney Aeronautics he received many commendations, patents and awards for his excellence in design. A licensed HAM radio operator, Bob's quick wit and analytic mind was shared with many. His interests included Big Band and Dixieland music, photography, computers, playing pool with his sons, and staying in contact with fellow service buddies and retired friends. His humorous commentary and friendship will be missed by family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to: Hospice of Palm Beach County.
