He is preceded in death by his loving wife Doris (1941-2009), and their infant son Mark W. Nord. Ron will forever be remembered by his beloved children: Janelle A. Shifflet and her husband MGySgt Ernest Shifflet USMC, of Sutherland, VA, Diane A. Nord, and her partner Terrance Pruett, of Owings, MD, son: Donald O. Nord of Martinsburg, WV, mother: Muriel Nord Desmond, siblings: Frances Maffia, Marilyn Posey Davis, and Kenneth Nord, by his Grandchildren: Eric G. Turch of Triangle, VA, Rebecca A. Pittman of Yokosuka, Japan, Britney R. Randall of Annapolis, MD and Great-Grandson: Zyair J. Pittman.

Ron left behind his pet bird and side-kick "3-O-2".

He was actively involved with the Harley Owners Group "HOG's" and his interest and hobbies included Amateur "HAM" Radio, guns and RV'ing. He took pleasure in riding his Harley's, sailing, watching Nascar races, the Florida weather, reminiscing of his time in Hawaii and talking with his pet bird "3O2".

Ron will be remembered by his slogan "Let's Ride".

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 27, 2012 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home and Crematory, 4143 Dale Blvd. Dale City, VA 22193. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Quantico National Cemetery with military honors.
