1923-2013
Bernard Austin Munsey, lovingly known as "Bernie", age 90, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2013. Bernard was born on June 1, 1923 in North Hampton, MA and moved to the Lake Worth area in 1920īs and resided there until the 1970īs, when he moved to the Jacksonville area with his family. Bernard served in the US Navy during World War II and received three Bronze Stars and retired from the Navy on June 1, 1983. He was an active Ham Radio Operator and his handle was N4GBY. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Betty Munsey of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter, Lynda Munsey of Jacksonville, FL; three granddaughters, Taira Wilds and her husband, Doug of Fleming Island, FL, Leigh Ann Lunsford and her husband, John of Fleming Island, FL and Tracey Scholl of Indiana; his sister, Joy Hansen of Fort Pierce, FL and four great-grandchildren, Ansleigh, Evan, Hanna and Gracey. Family and friends will gather and pay respects on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Mizell-Faville-Zern Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33405. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 22, 2013 in the Chapel of Mizell-Faville-Zern Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. David Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, West Palm Beach, FL with the United States Navy presenting Military Honors to the Family. Source: LINK
