Memorial

Myrtle Lillian Keays was born on Sunday, January 23, 1927 in San Diego, California. As the poem goes "Sunday's child is full of Grace" and that fits mom perfectly. On Monday, February 6, 2017, at age 90 Myrtle passed peacefully at home among family members and in the arms of her loving husband of 68 years Jerry Robert Sullivan (married June 6, 1948). Mom and dad had a deep love and respect for one another. Dad adored mom! Mom was devoted to dad!

Myrtle was welcomed into heaven by her parents Thomas Albert and Dolores Agnes Keays and her siblings: William Keays, Marie Beck, Madeline Cicchetto, Robert John Keays, and James Keays. Myrtle was born in San Diego; and lived in Maryland and Florida. She leaves behind 10 children: Michael Sullivan, Rita Jensen (Max), Linda Bock (Christopher), Patrick Sullivan, Kathleen McDonald (Sissy), Debora Snarr (Steve), Robert Sullivan (Marlene), Roberta Schwartz (David), Eileen Reames (William), and Gregory Sullivan (Andrea) and 55 grands and great grands!

She earned her nursing degree in the Army Cadet Corp. following in her mother's nursing footsteps. In the mid 1950's Jerry and Myrtle moved from California with eight children to Maryland where the last two children were born. Along with her own family; Myrtle welcomed babies into the world working at D.C. General and Prince George's Hospital. After retirement, mom and dad were into motor homing and travelling around the country until they settled in Florida where they lived until 2016 when Rita and her husband Max opened their home to offer loving care as their needs required. Myrtle loved life, lived it fully and took care of the "least of these". She was a faithful Catholic, loved her church and honored the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mom's prayer was to pass away before any of her family! God heard her prayer and granted her wish. God loved Myrtle Lillian Keays Sullivan and welcomed her into heaven with open arms.
