Fay Carroll Downing, 83, of Salisbury passed away peacefully at PRMC on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013. Her family was by her side. Born in Denton, Md., she was the oldest daughter of William Lester Carroll, Sr. and Elizabeth Imorde Carroll. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gil Downing; her daughter Gwen Shedaker and her husband Phil of Laurel, Del. Sisters Norma Minner Rooks, Dianne Wagner and Nancy Tull all of Salisbury. Stepson David Downing and his wife Phyllis of Laurel; stepdaughter Debbie Culver and her husband Rick of Felton, Del., and a sister-in-law Carolyn Downs of Salisbury. Six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Dale Brubaker; a sister Donna Harrington; and a brother William Lester Carroll. Jr. After retirement from C&P Telephone Co, she and her husband Gil traveled extensively for 15 years with their fifth wheel, where they made lifetime friends from across the country. At her request Fay donated her body to the Maryland Anatomy Board for science research. |
