Mr. Dean Brown Harris, age 92 of Marietta, Georgia passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 6, 2018.

Born on December 27, 1925 in Spencer, Iowa, he was the son of the late Samuel William Harris and Lois Brown Harris. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Bonnybel Mosier Harris; a daughter, Anne Elizabeth Harris Kraus; and brother, William Layne Harris.

Mr. Harris served in the U.S. Navy in WW II. Upon his return, he attended Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. He was retired from General Motors after working as an insurance adjuster for 35 years.

Dean was a long time Ham Radio operator and introduced many people to the hobby. He was also a Freemason and a voracious reader. In their golden years, he and his wife enjoyed traveling in their RV making friends from coast to coast especially with the Georgia Funseekers, Good Sam RV Radio Net, and FMCA along the way.

Survivors include daughter Linda Harris Rohn (Thomas Ward Rohn) of Lincoln, NE; Son, Dean Harlan Harris (Lamonda) of Marietta, GA; Grandsons Thomas Dean Rohn (special friend Shauna Johnson Lowry) of Lincoln, NE; David Gilbert Kraus (Melissa) of St. Louis, MO; Daniel Norman Kraus of Fenton, MO; Matthew Dean Harris of Marietta, GA; Jonathan Edward Harris of Marietta, GA; Granddaughter Sara Elizabeth Kraus Coffey (widow of Timothy O. Coffey) of Portland, OR; Four great-grandsons: Ryan, Jacob, Sam, Levi, two great-granddaughters Annabel and Kaylee; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 15, at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2881 Canton Road. The Reverend Zeta Lamberson will officiate, with interment to follow in Pine Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Road, Marietta, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening June 14, 2018.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring to do so may make contributions to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2881 Canton Road, Marietta, GA 30066; or to Half The Way Home Cat Rescue Organization, 9876 Main Street, Ste 105, Woodstock, GA 30188.
