Janet Matthews Andrews of Smithfield, Va., was freed from her body's limitations on Sunday, March 6. Daughter to the late Peter Bernard Matthews and Mary Nelson Matthews of Kenbridge, Va. Loved eternally by her husband of 47 years, Harry W. Andrews LTC (RET); and their two daughters, Stephanie Shipman and Mitzi Andrews; Janet also was a bragger of her grandchildren, Andrew and Sophie Shipman; and her granddogs, Oscar Mayer and Winnie.
Janet was a teacher, an artist, and a true friend. She had a zeal for life and an adventurous spirit. She was the life of the party, was an Army wife, a Master Gardener, and A HAM (in radio and personality). She was a procrastinator, a mass emailer, and an avid reader. She was "our reigning champion at Chicken Foot". Janet was A self-proclaimed "Depression baby" who never threw anything away. Passionately opinionated yet open minded, Janet was An intuitive soul, and a generous heart. She will live in our hearts forever.
